Downtown Improvement Board
Tuesday, February 7th at 7:30 a.m. Meets every first Tuesday of the month.
Special Events Committee
Wednesday, February 8th at 8:30 a.m. Meets every second Wednesday of the month.
Responsibilities: Coordinating with downtown events not presented by the Downtown Improvement Board to enhance the attendance and the positive impact on downtown interests and traffic, and presenting a limited number of unique special events to increase the familiarity and attractiveness of downtown among visitors, tourists, and newcomers.
Pelican Drop Sub-Committee - Sub-committee of the Special Events Committee
Wednesday, February 15th at 3:0 p.m. Meets twice monthly from October 1st - January 15th, then monthly all other times of the year
Responsibilities: Managing and overseeing the Pensacola Pelican Drop event. Partnering with downtown businesses to enhance the event and enliven the Downtown District. Identifying and recruiting sponsors. Assisting with the presentation of the event. Coordinating the marketing efforts to promote the event and the Downtown District venues.
Downtown Retail Council
Tuesday, February 21st at 8:30 a.m. Meets every third Tuesday of the month.
Responsibilities: Coordinating cooperative promotions and marketing campaigns among downtown retailers, conducting consumer oriented research to better target efforts of the committee, overseeing the implementation of the Downtown Retail Strategy, and representing the common needs or interests of independent local retailers to public entities and agencies.
Parking & Traffic Committee
Tuesday, February 21st at 4:30 p.m. Meets every third Tuesday of the month.
Responsibilities: Implementing and overseeing the Comprehensive Downtown Parking Management Strategy, manage the Downtown Parking System, coordinating traffic circulation for the maximum benefit of downtown businesses and residents, formulating ways to enhance the number and availability of public parking spaces available to short term users of downtown, and maintaining easy access to and within the downtown for vehicular traffic, public transportation, bicycles, and pedestrians.
DAB/Marketing
Thursday, February 23rd at 9:00 a.m. Meets every fourth Thursday of the month.
Maintenance and Beautification Committee
Meets Quarterly
Responsibilities: Improving the downtown streetscape appearance and function, adding color and texture to downtown streets, working to improve the appearance and function of parks and plazas, keeping public areas of downtown clean, enhancing the lighting in the downtown area, and working for the removal of any visible signs or deterioration and neglect in the physical environment.
Business Development Committee
Meets Bi-Monthly
Responsibilities: Monitoring and evaluating the strategy used to attract investors and businesses to the district, assisting with the efforts to retain existing businesses, reviewing CRA funding priorities explaining redevelopment issues, and developing strategies to grow employment numbers, attractions, and opportunities within the downtown.
Housing Committee
Meets Quarterly
Responsibilities: Increasing the number of housing units and residents in the downtown area, attracting developers and investors, assisting developers and existing property owners in traversing the permit and public approval process for projects, promoting the creation and expansion of services that support housing, coordination of marketing efforts to promote downtown living, conducting specialized market research and analysis, and advocating for public support and/or financing to fill gaps in efforts to grow the residential presence in downtown.
Planning and District Boundary Committee
Meets Quarterly
Responsibilities: Reviewing downtown development plans affecting the district, developing planning proposals, and recommending changes to the Downtown District Boundaries and/or redevelopment financing options.
